Tioga County has many huge
tracks of State Forest and State Game lands. Our forests support a large population of Black Bear and Wild Turkey. In fact,
our Black Bear population is the largest it has been since the forests were cut down over a hundred years ago. Our White-tailed
deer herds are now much smaller, but larger antler racks are more common. The mixed field/forest terrain supports many species
of small game. The Pennsylvania Game Commission stocks a large quantity of Ring-Necked Pheasants for all hunters and even
a pre-season stocking for the youth hunting season. Both male and female pheasants can be harvested in North-Central Pennsylvania.
Pine Tree Lodge is located within 5 miles of pheasant stocked public lands.
